In a healthcare system troubled by escalating demands escalating costs, the last decade has seen a marked increase in both volume and cost of surgical spine procedures. Probing methodologies to reduce such costs without jeopardizing patient outcome would generate substantial benefit. This paper assesses the effect of administering milk of magnesia (MOM) for bowel preparation on the length of hospital stay (LOS).
