Palliative Treatment

Palliative care is the active, total care of the patients whose disease is not responsive to curative treatment. Palliative care is to offer the most basic concept of care – that of providing for the needs of the patient wherever he or she is cared for, either at home or in the hospital.

Palliative care is provided by a specially-trained team of doctors, nurses and other specialists who work together with a patient’s other doctors to provide an extra layer of support. It is appropriate at any age in a serious illness and can be provided along with curative treatment.

Palliative treatment is not limited to painkillers and anti sickness drugs. Cancer treatments can also reduce or get rid of symptoms.
